It’s now official we have a vacancy for the Rector of the Parish of Wyke Regis, All Saints with St Edmund.
Around 65 parishioners travelled by coach and private car last night (18th September 2018) to St Mary’s Church Bridport, and joined with the congregations of the six churches of the Bridport Team and local dignitaries to see the installation, induction and institution of Rev Deb Smith as Team Rector of the Bridport Team.
The service was attended by acting Archdeacon of Sherborne The Ven Antony MacRow-Wood , the Lord Chancellors representative Sir Phillip Williams and was led by the Bishop of Sherborne the Right Reverend Karen Gorham. It was a lovely evening with great singing/music and afterwards attendees went to church house for light refreshments and a chance to speak to Deb and wish her well.
Whilst we did not wish to say farewell to Deb, we have now done this, she has a new role and many challenges to focus on in her new parish and it is time for us to move on and search for our new Rector. The people of Bridport will I am sure be very happy with Deb and it will now close a phase in their parish life where they have been without a Rector for some time.
We now enter a new phase in our parish which is officially called an “interregnum”, this means the time between the departure of the current rector and the arrival of a new incumbent.
We will soon publish our parish profile and adverts will be placed on the Salisbury Diocese website and in the Church Times. Interviews will be held before Christmas (subject to suitable candidates applying) and hopefully we will be able to appoint a new Rector who will take us to the next phase in pour parish life.
In the meantime the running of the parish is the responsibility of the Churchwardens and we will continue to be supported and assisted by our Associate Priest Betty Port, or Licenced Lay Minister Alan Macintosh and other locum priests as necessary.
Questions about the vacancy, or anyone interested in applying can contact acting PCC Chair Gary Hepburn for an informal chat, or more information on 01305 778169 or email email@example.com
